Primates suffer terribly when they are captured and when they are confined during transport. Babies are separated from their mothers, crammed together in crates for weeks on end, and shipped from ports as far away as China, Vietnam, and Indonesia. They will spend the rest of their lives imprisoned in corporate labswhere they are often cruelly abused by lab workersand subjected to excruciating and often lethal experiments in the name of product testing and “basic science.”
A recent PETA investigation of Covancethe largest importer of primates in the U.S.uncovered abusive treatment and neglect of animals. In February, Covance was cited and fined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for serious violations of federal law.

It’s time to save the tigers!
A study indicates that more than 40 percent of the places where tigers could have been found in do not support any tigers. The results of this study show that the situation has become very serious for wild tiger populations. Simply put: tigers cannot sustain another decade like this last one.
This study also helped to identify key tiger conservation landscapes–places that have the best chance of supporting viable tiger populations into the future. WWF, along with its partners, is now focusing its efforts to protect tigers in these key areas. WWF is asking us to help in their efforts to save wild tigers. With your symbolic adoption of a tiger from WWF’s online adoption center, you can help protect tigers for future generations, since all of the funds raised from these symbolic adoptions will help to protect tiger communities in the wild.
